VANCOUVER ISLAND SURF SHACK

A PARADISE IN BETWEEN THE FOREST AND THE BEACH

VANCOUVER ISLAND, BRITISH COLUMBIA

VANCOUVER ISLAND SURF SHACK

Designed as a place to escape and enjoy the rugged coast of British Columbia, this small vacation home sits in a stand of Cedars, high enough to survive the high winter tides. Designed on three levels, each room is in a corner, thus doubling its exposure to the views and encouraging natural light. The first level is for living, the second for sleeping and the third, like a crow’s nest, a great place to work. Built as a heavy timber frame with intricate metal connectors, a central atrium space soars through the entire volume connecting all rooms. Exterior finishes of wood and copper have weathered, and primary colors are used judiciously. This sleepy beach community is literally located at the end of the road, and will remain unspoiled and undiscovered for generations.
